Hey, folks,

welcome to a blog for Nature and Society. I've set this up as a private blog that only those registered as authors can use. That means that any of us can create posts and everyone can comment. For some of you this might be your first blogging experience unless, in some cases, you count the microblogging or Twitter/FB/Instagram/Etc. as qualifying (assuming you use one of these social media). I hope this technology proves easy for us to use. There are really only two things you can do here: initiate topics and "comment" on them.

I'm sure some of you are familiar with blogs already. For those of you who have yet to get familiar with this medium, you'll see that topics (or posts) are published with the most recent at the top. As you scroll down the blog you will see older posts. We can maintain a few different conversations by responding to specific posts through the "comments" on that post. So, if you want to launch a topic discussion, feel free to initiate a topic and await the responses of the rest of us.

You can upload images as well and video and audio as well. I'll do some basic moderation to keep this blog manageable. I will NOT be editing the content of anyone's post - merely the format (if necessary).

This blog is about nature and society (as broadly understood as is the approach of 5103). I've chosen blogger as a platform as it is one i am very familiar with. I dislike Moodle's built-in blog function which does not allow me to keep blog posts private only to those of us in 5103 (which is kinda weird). At any rate, i this medium for sharing text and image and will use it to post my notes, quotes, etc. It is, to some extent, a practice of commonplacing. But a blog has much greater functionality than a fountain pen and paper.

if you prefer the date from this blog pushed you can always subscribe to the RSS feed. Otherwise, i recommend checking at least after each class.

peace
